Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish believes the style of football Roy Hodgson has brought to Selhurst Park can help the club prosper in the Premier League.
Last week Hodgson, 71, signed a one-year contract maxbet extension to keep him at Palace until 2020 and he then masterminded an organised and clinical 2-0 win against Premier League newcomers Fulham as he aims to avoid another relegation struggle.
Parish said: “He is an incredible asset to have at your club. It is wonderful to work with Roy. He a really nice chap, very knowledgeable about football, has huge experience, is very grounded, very sensible and he has that attachment to the club having stood on the terraces watching Palace when he was young.
“Roy is probably Britain’s most travelled coach and our most knowledgeable about foreign tactics. I see him as a hybrid, rather than saying we have just gone for another British coach.
“You can see that in the football we play. We are now getting to a style of football maxbet that I think could potentially give you a sustainable future in the Premier League.
“It is a great signature for us, arguably the signing of the summer really.”
Parish has also admitted Palace came under less pressure to sell Wilfried Zaha in the summer because there was not an opening for him at one of the big Premier League clubs.
Chelsea were interested but Palace did not receive any bids for the 25-year-old forward.
Parish told BBC Radio 5 live: “There was some noise in the market maxbet [but] we did not have a formal offer, which was our good fortune.
